Anthony DeMolina has over 31 years of law enforcement experience with the Los Angeles Police Department. He retired as a dual status sergeant/detective. He spent nearly 20 years assigned to Air Support Division. Anthony continues to advise the LAPD as the small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Subject Matter Expert for the Department. He has examined the advantages and disadvantages of this technology as it pertains to the law enforcement community. He created the sUAS Program for the Police Department.
His expertise extends to Counter-drone operations. He was the technical advisor for the development of a UAS regulatory ordinance for the City of Los Angeles. He was the lead investigator for rogue drone incidents in LA, writing numerous search warrants and filing the cases with the City Attorney’s office. He is a court qualified aviation expert and unmanned aircraft systems expert.
Anthony retired from the military reserves after 30 years of service. While serving in the Army Reserve, he achieved the rank of Colonel as an Aviation Branch officer. He was selected for battalion command and his assignments rotated between command and operations/training positions. He served three tours at the Pentagon working civil/military policy issues. This officer is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm/Spring and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He earned the Bronze Star for his service overseas.
As an aviator, Anthony has a diverse and vast knowledge of aviation operations. He is qualified in both rotor-wing and fixed-wing aircraft. Anthony holds both the LAPD and Army Senior Aviator badges. He has amassed over 9,000 flight hours. He has obtained the following Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ratings: Remote Pilot, Commercial Airplane Multi-Engine Land, Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter along with Instrument Airplane and Helicopter ratings. He is certified as a helicopter flight instructor.
He is currently CEO of Tactical Drone Concepts. His company provides sUAS program management services: as well as, training and education focused toward the public safety community. He is the author of numerous courses involving Unmanned Aircraft Systems, as well as Counter-drone operations. His class on developing a sUAS program is certified by the California Commission on Police Officer Standards and Training (CA POST).
Anthony is a sought-after speaker and lecturer. He has been providing presentations for the sUAS industry convention “Interdrone” since 2017. He has regularly lectured on sUAS topics at the annual Xponential Convention for the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems (AUVSI). He has spoken on sUAS topics at Airborne Public Safety Association (APSA) events as well. As a writer, he has provided content for Police One magazine and Fire One Magazine along with other articles for various publications.
Anthony holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Tulane University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
