Hi, I’m Melissa
I established Nu Aerial to provide new solutions to the age old pursuit of examining the world we live in. After receiving a B.A in Anthropology, I became a field archaeologist and first began working with drones as a Visual Observer (VO) and instantly realized the potential applications of drone technology in the environmental sector as well as within a multitude of other fields . While working as an archaeologist, I saw drones being used on more and more construction sites as time progressed and finally I decided it was time for a new direction that could combine my experience in the field with my interest in media.

I saw that opportunity was possible with the technology of drones - the ability to create art completely for the sake of art, and the capability to transform integral aspects of how we manage day to day business. Ever since my teen years I had an interest in film production and editing, music production and photography and a growing fascination with media as it applies to human interaction and communication. Also, becoming a drone pilot was a natural decision - I get to fly a remote controlled quad copter while filming 4K footage? Sign me up!

In January 2021 I received my FAA Part 107 Certification as a remote pilot and started Nu Aerial soon after. I look forward to exploring the anthropological implications of drone adoption as they unfold and I hope to be one of those pilots making contributions and promoting drones and aerial photography within my community.
