I am a college professor for the past 20 years . I teach courses in mapping crime, census, surface modeling & public safety including courses on passing FAA 107 exam, various sUAV sensors & editing.
I primarily use drones to capture imagery for my course lessons. Imagery collected is generated into orthomosaic (stitched) imagery for use in GIS or interactive web use, remote sensing and surface modeling and generate contours, determine volumes and surface profiles, slopes, aspect, watersheds, viewsheds using GIS tools. I am passionate to have students acquire valuable practical skills for various fields and increasingly more in the use of drones for variety of industries including public safety, real estate, survey, bio sciences and digital humanities. Furthermore, I capture video footage for marketing purposes of campus programs.
I have various examples in survey mapping but constrained with this profile to post (it requires video url). Here is a recent project in Altadena, CA supporting the survey of storm drains with LA County DPW https://cloud.pix4d.com/pro/project/461829/map?shareToken=3d1054b0-eafc-48fc-a647-299df5e14988
