Owner/Operator, Brandon Herndon, is a farmer, veteran, engineer, and certified FAA drone operator. Leveraging his military drone experience, Brandon began to operate drones as a time and cost efficient method of monitoring livestock for his farm. After several months it became obvious there was an aerial photography need in the New River Valley for real estate, land owners, and inspection purposes.

Over the past few years the FAA has increased rules and regulations for drone operators. Many individuals and organizations are in violation of the law if they operate a drone for commercial purposes without FAA 107 certification, which can be time and cost consuming to obtain. The Flying Cow was established in 2019 as a low-cost way to offer drone services to individuals and business within the NRV.
